Setting up the People Service SSM Module in SIMS
In order to enable automated provisioning of users from SIMS, you will need to::
- Ensure the SIMS server is at latest release.
- Confirm that the SIMS server is running the minimum technical specification required.
- Confirm that SIMS Services Manager (SSM) is installed correctly.
- Confirm that SIMS Online Services Client is installed
- Configure SIMS Online Services Client with Client ID key and secret
Ensure the SIMS server is at latest release.
The school must be on the latest version of SIMS. Please ensure this upgrade has taken place before attempting to perform other actions.
Confirm that the SIMS server is running the minimum technical specification required.
The minimum technical requirements for schools and end users are detailed in the Minimum System Requirements document, which is available from the SIMS Support portal (https://support.capitasoftware.com) or on request.
Confirm that SIMS Services Manager (SSM) is installed correctly.
SIMS Services Manager (SSM) manages the link between SIMS and cloud-based applications. By default, SSM updates automatically overnight, unless the automatic update has been switched off. You must upgrade to the most up-to-date version of SSM. Please ensure that SSM has upgraded successfully before attempting to install the SIMS Online Services Client.

The SSM web user interface is available on the server via the desktop shortcut that was created as part of the installation process or via a URL (http://localhost:50000).
SIMS Services Manager operates on the following browsers:
- Latest Chrome
- Latest Firefox
- Latest Safari
- Latest Internet Explorer
- Latest Edge.
Please note that if your SIMS server is hosted or managed by your LA or support unit, this step will need to be carried out by them.
Confirm that SIMS Online Services Client is installed
Download the SIMS Online Services Package from SIMS Services Manager if it is not installed.
Client ID and Secret
These are retrievable as part of the self on-boarding process in SIMS ID for People Service and should be entered as part of the process.
I have already installed the SSM package but I now need to enable data to flow to SIMS ID.
Once you have installed the SSM package or If you have previously installed the SSM package for SIMS products but have not enabled SIMS ID to receive this data please follow the instructions here to enable SIMS ID to receive SIMS Data
