2fa initial login

Your first login with Two Factor Authentication

This information only relates to users at sites where Two Factor Authentication is enabled AND is enabled for you as an individual user or asa member of a user type e.g. Staff

Once Two Factor AutorisationAuthorisation is enabled at your next sucessfulsuccessful login you will be presented with the following scrrenscreen

If the Effective Date for Two Factor Authentication has not yet been reached you will have a skip button and you log in will continue.

From this screenscreen, you can set up your initalinitial second factor.

Please choose to enable either Authenticator or Passphrase.

Setting up a Passphrase

After enabling Passphrase on the previous screen you will be required to fill in and confirm your choosenchosen Passphrase. This Passphrase has to have at least 8 characters. Click Save.

You will then be prompted to choose three random charachterscharacters from your Passphrase.

If sucessfullysuccessfully entered you will be logged into the application.

Too many incorrect attempts to enter the characters from your Passphrase will result in your account being locked - you will need to ask your Site AministratorAdministrator to unlock your account and reset your Two Factor CredentailsCredentials if you have forggotenforgotten them.

Setting up an Authenticator App.

If you have not downloaded an Authenticator App to your mobile device you should do this first. See An Introduction to Two Factor Authentication for links to Microsoft and Google authenicatorauthenticator apps for common Mobile OperatinsOperating Systems.

On enabling authenitcatorauthenticator on the previous screen the following screen will display.

This screen shows a QR code. Most Authenticator Apps will allow you to scan this code to set up the Second Factor, on Google AuthnticatorAuthenticator this is achivedachieved by clicking the + icon. You can also key in the Manual Setup key if the QR code will not scan.

On completion your Authenticator App will have a new entry for SIMS ID and a six digit number, that will change every thirty seconds.

In this exampleexample, the codes are blue and turn red as they are about to change. It is advised not to use a code that is about to change.

When you have setup of the Authenticator App you should click OK on this setup screen

You will now be challenged for the six digit code displaying on your device.

If sucessfullysuccessfully entered you will be logged into the application.
